Yokohama and Tokyo

Getting there: Singapore Air from Singapore – on the 2nd level of the plane! How fun!

Where dpr stayed: Yokohama – the Intercontinental Hotel. This is a tired hotel – old carpet, old furniture, so it was a good place to just be sleeping. On the plus side, the toilet menu (!)- especially the heat control on the seat, free and reliable wifi, nice view of the harbour. You had to pay to use the gym and the breakfast buffet was expensive, but definitely huge.
Tokyo – Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel. Newer hotel, nice sized rooms (especially for Tokyo), huge bathroom, wifi and decent gym and pool included in rate, close to Shibuya station, Airport Limo to Narita picks up at the hotel.

Fun: Yokohama was for a conference for work. Unfortunately I got sick in Singapore and was still sick when I got to Yokohama, so except for the last day before I went to Tokyo and got to go to the Cup Noodles museum gift shop, I didn’t get to explore the area at all. Otherwise I definitely would’ve run along the harbour of this Tokyo suburb.

Luckily I was feeling a lot better by the time I went to Tokyo for the weekend. Having been to Tokyo already earlier this year (see the post here) , I decided to stay in the Shibuya neighbourhood. I had about 1.5 days to hang out here again, which was mostly about eating delicious food, drinking yummy coffee, and shopping. All were achieved with great success – the weather was perfect and I explored all over Shibuya and Harajuku. A lovely way to cap off just over a week away from home for work – with a couple of lazy days wandering around Tokyo.
